The 2015 Florida Legislative Session is ending in less than a month and the State Senate and House are still at odds on a state budget, namely a 2 billion dollar expansion of medicaid that would help hospitals cover over 800,000 working poor. According to a report by advocacy groups Young Invincible and Florida CHAIN , over a third of those in the coverage gap are millennials, people between the ages of 18-34. Joining us to discuss how the medicaid expansion effects young Floridians is Christina Rivera, Campaign Outreach Manager for Young Invincibles, a non-profit aimed at informing young people on policy issues that effect them, like health care and the economy. Rivera says that lack of healthcare for the young working poor hampers educational attainment goals and ability to get good jobs. The Young Invincibles and health care activists will advocate for the Medicaid expansion at the State Capitol in Tallahassee on Wednesday, April 15.
