Following the tragic shooting in an Orlando nightclub that claimed the lives of 49 people, there is again public outcry over gun control and the legality of owning powerful firearms like the assault rifle that was used in the attack. A Philadelphia Daily News columnist reported this week that she was able to purchase an AR-15 rifle in just seven minutes on Monday. Our guest on this part of the program was Ladd Everitt,Director of Communications for the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence, one of the leading gun control organizations in the country.

I sincerely doubt that the AR-15 used in Orlando was a true “assault” rifle.
ASSAULT Rifles are, by definition, a SELECT FIRE weapon. This means that they have the capability to fire multiple rounds with a single squeeze of the trigger. NOT a semi-automatic rifle like most citizens own.
This is not to say that a true Assault Rifle cannot be purchased by law abiding citizens. We can legally buy these guns, but to do so requires a great deal more than a phoned in background check by the gun shop.
I’d like to point out that one of the reasons I started listening to WMNF was because it tended to state FACTS, and not the double speak we get from so many other news/opinion programs. I remember a program aired on Mr Lorei’s show that talked about the common practice of our government (and other civilian sources) re-tagging killing as things such as “servicing the target”.
PLEASE. Don’t drop to that level of reporting. State FACTS…not bumper sticker slogans.

why all this talk about restricting guns when Heart conditions and Cancer kill 5 times as many Americans as do guns. Could it be that the Medical Lobbyists have more money and considered good guys or is it that these medical conditions are big business to which politicians are sucking off of!
