The Dalí Museum in St. Petersburg announced Tuesday that its next special exhibit will feature diagrams by Leonardo da Vinci as well as manuscripts and paintings by Salvador Dalí in an exhibit called “Invention as Art.” It will run from March 8, 2015 through July 26, 2015.

According to a press release:

‘The exhibit features more than 75 works, including da Vinci diagrams, Dalí manuscripts and paintings, and the invented objects both da Vinci and Dalí proposed in advance of their times.’

‘“Dalí & da Vinci: Invention as Art” shows how these two major artists shared an ambition to use the tools of art to explore the whole of human experience, including math, anatomy, motion devices, religion, and visual perspective. They both imagined fantastical devices and inventions, some of which became reality, while others remained sealed in sketches and manuscripts. Visitors will explore five major thematic groupings that demonstrate Dalí’s range of shared themes, interests, and ongoing dialogue with da Vinci: Youthful Scientific Dispositions, Freud’s Leonardo, Invention, Math and Masterworks.’

The Dalí Museum is at One Dalí Boulevard, St. Petersburg, Florida 33701. 727-823-3767.
