A second show has been added for 9:30pm and there are PLENTY of tickets for this viewing.   There are still about # 30 tickets for the 7:30pm to be sold at the door (which opens at 6:30pm).  We want to give everybody a chance to see this great movie, so hope you can join us.

Sharon Jones is a powerful, inspiring and entertaining legendary R&B queen whose wonder is a force to behold  both on and off stage.  And now you can be one of the first persons to see her documentary: Miss Sharon Jones!

Two-time Academy Award winner Barbara Kopple (Harlan  County, USA) shines a spotlight on Sharon Jones who was always told she was never good enough (“you’re too black, too short, too old”);Sharon finally broke-through as a renowned soul singer being hailed as a modern-day female James Brown. The film shows as she  prepares for her most important tour, Sharon comes face-to-face with the most difficult adversity of her life: a diagnosis with cancer.

Follow this tour de force  over the course of an eventful year as she struggles to hold her band The Dap Kings  together while battling her diagnosis with an unstoppable determination to come out  triumphantly as a true soul survivor. This will be the Florida premier of this  movie—and may be the only time this movie comes to the Tampa Bay area. Tampa Pitcher Show has a restaurant and full bar, in addition to the usual movie fare, so those  attending the movie can get a meal and/or a drink and settle into the comfy seats to  watch the movie.

The one night only screening of “Miss Sharon Jones!” is the only one within 200 miles and will happen at the Tampa Pitcher Show, located at 14416 N. Dale Mabry Highway in Tampa. Tickets are $11 and the film starts at 7:30 p.m. & 9:30pm (9pm seating) on Wednesday, August 24.
