Today on Radioactivity, we air the September edition of The Fairness doctrine, a debate segment moderated and produced by Jennifer Sullivan, who also hosts the public affairs TV show On the table with the Green Party.  Today subject centers around the hunting of the Florida black bear, which was  recently approved for the first time in over 20 years by the Florida Fish and Wildlife commission. Arguing for the hunt is Kevin West, a former Forest Park Service Ranger, and taking the side against hunting is Adam Roberts, CEO of Born Free USA, an animal welfare and wildlife conservation group.

Thanks again to Adam and Kevin. Always good for both sides to meet. Born Free has done a lot of work to educate people on wildlife protection.

ha. I was out of town when you did this show. sorry I missed it because it’s a topic near and dear to me. No friggin way is this hunt about anything but the way-too-general war waged today on our natural world. The truly sinister part of this is these particular hunters (are they all as bad as Ted N? No, some hunters may have a place, and those don’t see a need for this hunt either) have zero understanding of any connection between our natural world and themselves. The only way I may ever smile about this is if they shoot each other (oops, mistake, tsk, tsk) before they get a bear. OK, I said it.
