Residents of the Tampa Heights neighborhood and others who will be affected by the planned Tampa Bay Express interstate highway expansion are keeping the pressure on elected officials.
Thursday morning during public comment, four opponents of TBX praised Tampa City Council members serving as the Community Redevelopment Agency for speaking out against the project.
Lena Young-Green, a Tampa Heights community activist says she wants to encourage the CRA to continue to slow down and question the process.
Council member Yvonne Yolie Capin said the U.S. Department of Transportation responded to the CRA’s letter calling for caution when it comes to Tampa Bay Express.
The CRA unanimously supported two suggestions from Council member Lisa Montelione. One was to have two Florida Department of Transportation representatives answer questions at the November 12 CRA meeting. Another was to have city staff investigate using an online comment process like Go To Meeting to allow people to comment on issues even if they can’t come to a CRA or Tampa City Council meeting.
