Today is Juneteenth, which celebrates the 150th anniversary of the complete emancipation of African American slaves in 1865. We listen to a speech from Alternative Radio by Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor about the prevailing racism that continues to exist despite the gains made during the civil rights era of the 1960s, including the substandard housing issues many black people face. Keeanga Taylor is the Assistant Professor in the Center of African American Studies at Princeton University. Her research focuses on the intersection of race, politics, and public policy, particularly housing.
