On Radioactivity Tuesday we first spoke about the mental healthcare system in Florida with State Representative Kathleen Peters from treasure Island and Barbara Daire, President CEO of the Suncoast Center. According to an editorial in the Orlando Sentinel, Florida spends 1/3 of the national average on mental health services. Daire and Representative Peters say that a better funded system will keep people with mental illness and substance abuse problems out of jail and get them the treatment they need.

Then we look at President-Elect Donald Trump’s appointment of Breitbart Chairman Steve Bannon as Chief Strategist and Senior Counselor. Bannon was CEO of the website Breitbart which routinely posted racist, sexist, anti-Semitic and homophobic headlines. Our second guest was Susan Smith,  President of the Democratic Progressive Caucus of Florida, one of many groups that has publicly denounced Bannon appointment.
