Hot Box – New Music on WMNF for the end of the Summer

Share

Each week WMNF gets about 60 or more cds in that bands and labels want the station to play. Our dedicated team of quality music ears (that would be the Music Office with Randy, Flea and Mike B.) and programmers go through them and get them in the library to test out. Some music stands out for being noteworthy, and they get put in the Hot Box.

Here are some selections new to the Hot Box.

Lydia Loveless – Real   –  A terrific new album of altrock/altcountry on Bloodshot Records. Note that “Longer” one of the best songs has a naughty word (but we have a clean version for airplay).

Michael Kiwanuka is a British soul singer, mixing longing and hope, sorrow and excitement.

Sharon Van Etten has had her music discovered through car commercials and tragedy. Here is a good one.

Bon Iver is putting out some new music out, but here is a lovely version of their song, Heavenly Father.
