A massive education bill is moving through the Florida Legislature and the Senate has added back in a provision that would decertify teachers unions if the number of dues-paying members falls below fifty percent. That’s just one of the many reasons Joanne McCall, president of the Florida Education Association, opposes the bill called HB 7055.

“The House version of 7055 is what’s working its way through he Senate … Most of the things in that bill coming through the House are not good for education. … They have in that bill to give students that are bullied a voucher to go to a private or religious school. … The other aspect of the bill that was taken out and was just put back in yesterday is to decertify teachers unions. And only teachers unions. To silence our voice.”
