Executive Director of Families USA talks about working Floridians who don’t make enough to afford healthcare

More than half (51 percent) of the nearly 1.1 million uninsured Floridians who would benefit from the state’s expansion of health care—nearly 551,000 residents—are working Floridians employed in occupations that most people rely on daily and are critical to the state’s economy, says a report released today by Florida CHAIN and Families USA.

These working Floridians are employed in industries ranging from sales and food services to the production and medical sectors, and are employed as home health aides, child care workers, cashiers, clerks and janitors. Although these Floridians work in widely diverse jobs, the report says, they have one thing in common—they don’t make enough money to afford health coverage.

Today on Radioactivity, Rob Lorei speaks to Ron Pollack, executive director from Families USA about this issue.
