Today’s topic on Radioactivity is recycling in Florida. The state has set a goal of a 75% recycle rate by 2020. So Far, 18 counties have a recycle rate of atleast 50%; three Tampa Bay area counties (Pinellas, Hillsborough and Pasco) make-up the top 5 countites on that list. Still, there is discussion as to whether recycling is worth it. We listen to a clip of an interview Warren Olney had with New York Times columnist  John Tierney, who argued in a recent  Sunday Review piece that recycling is a feel-good habit that is not worth the cost. Also, we are joined by  Hillsborough Solid Waste  Director Kim Byer and recycling advocate Barbara Heineken to talk about the benefits of recycling participation amongst businesses and residents.
