Activists and local doctor discuss efforts to bring healthcare to low-income Floridians

Share

Today on Radioactivity, Rob Lorei speaks with Stan Brock, founder of medical relief non-profit Remote Area Medical (RAM), about efforts to change Florida law that currently prohibits doctors licensed out of the state to practice medicine within it. Also joining Rob are local healthcare activists, Dr. Richard Conard and Glen Gibellina, who discuss the need for RAM’s work in Manatee county.

Approximately 900,000 Floridians fall within the ‘healthcare coverage gap’, where their income is too high to qualify for Medicare but too low to qualify for Marketplace premium tax credits.
