DIY Solar on the Sustainable Living program

Share

On Monday’s WMNF Sustainable Living Show we first talked with a couple of members of our local Sierra Club about the Sierra National Campaign aimed at leveraging the power of cities to catalyze a national transition toward renewable energy. Lisa Hinton, Suncoast Sierras Executive Community Chair, and James Scott, Sierras St. Pete 100% Ready Coordinator explained how Sierras 100% program works and St Petersburg’s willingness to be the first city to commit to this clean energy pledge.

We spent the rest of the hour with three local Solar Power activists.  Alan Brand, the “Solar Shepherd”, Pat Mahoney, and John Gambill are all willing to help any homeowner or business get solar electric power. These very passionate people want others to please consider that it’s easy (with a little help), a cash positive venture, and it’s the one most important thing we can do to help curb climate change. If you didn’t hear this show and really care about our planet please go to the WMNF Archives and listen to the September 12th 10 AM Sustainable Living Program!

It’s only expensive because of utility companies. Vote NO on Am 1 to defeat @SmartSolarFL – a deceptive initiative proposed by dirty energy corps.
These cities are powered by 100% renewable energy and rely solely on solar and wind power-
      Burlington, VT
      Greensburg, KS
      Aspen, CO
And more on the way –
      Georgetown, TX
