In the latest in a string of controversial remarks made during his presidential campaign, Donald Trump last night called for a ban on all Muslims traveling to the United States until politicians “figure out what is going on” following terrorist attacks in San Bernardino and Paris. Trump, who last month called for the surveillance of mosques, also claimed that muslims harbor an “incomprehensible” hatred of Americans. His statements have been condemned by politicians from both sides of the political spectrum as well as Muslim-American organizations. Joining us to talk about Trump’s stance on Muslims and how they perpetuate misconceptions about Islam is Hassan Shibly, Executive Director of The Council on American–Islamic Relations in Florida. We then open up the show to listener calls and emails.
