In the twelve months since Michael Brown was shot dead by police in Ferguson Missouri renewed attention has been paid to interactions between police and residents of the communities they monitor, especially people of color; a group called the Bay Area Activist Coalition (BAAC) is hosting a workshop in south St. Petersburg Friday evening to inform residents about their rights during interactions with police.

It’s at the Enoch Davis Center, 1111 18th Avenue South from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

WMNF News’ Seán Kinane interviewed Devan Cheaves, an organizer with BAAC and a member of Tampa Dream Defenders.

On Monday in Tampa the group Hillsborough for Justice will meet to talk about a Citizen Review Board for the Tampa Police Department. It’s at 6:30 p.m. at 500 North Westshore Boulevard Suite 900.
