The Florida Department of Transportation has some big ideas for the I-275/I-4 intersection. A multi-billion dollar proposal from FDOT called the Tampa Bay Express would add toll lanes to I-275, from the Pinellas County side of Tampa Bay to Bearss Avenue in North Tampa on I-275.
But there is fierce opposition from neighborhood groups in Seminole Heights and Tampa Heights.
On the program we had two members of that activist group, called Sunshine Citizens: Michelle Cookson and Amanda Brown.
Beth Alden from the Hillsborough County Metropolitan Organization and Debbie Hunt from the Florida Dept. of Transportation also participated in the conversation.
You can listen to the conversation here.

Oh boy, what a great idea!…..??? Uh, maybe not. We cannot continue widening roads/paving our way out of our transportation/traffic woes…
Stop catering to car addicted Americans! More bike trails. MORE BIKE TRAILS. Bike trails everywhere that are as fast as chugging along in Tampa traffic jams. The city will become cleaner and more healthy in the process.
