On today’s program we talked about perennials and trees that produce fruit with three guests, all members of the Tampa Bay Chapter of the Rare Fruit Council International (TBRFCI). Joining the show was Charles Novak; Charles did a program on frost plant protection at the November meeting of the TBRFCI. Jimmy and Sally Lee, both Master Gardeners with Hillsborough County Extension Service, will be doing a talk about fruit trees at the Hillsborough County Bruton Memorial Plant City Library in January. Jimmy joined today’s show too. A great friend of the Sustainable Living program and a true gardening community activist, Tanja Vicovic, helped answer questions about where to buy local fruit trees and her efforts to plant fruit trees in our City Parks. As with most shows on fruit trees a lot was said about growing avocado trees in our area. This was one of the best shows on the topic and about the Tampa Bay Chapter of the Rare Fruit Council International, which meets the second Sunday of the month at Christ The King Church, 821 South Dale Mabry in Tampa. Meetings start at 2 PM www.rarefruit.org.
