The City of St. Petersburg violated Florida’s Sunshine Law providing for open government meetings. A state appeals court made that determination this month regarding a closed-door meeting in 2011 when Bill Foster was mayor.
The ordinance the city was discussing behind closed doors had to do with trespassing people who don’t have a home from public parks.
WMNF News interviewed Kirsten Anderson, the litigation director at Southern Legal Counsel. That’s the nonprofit public interest firm that brought the lawsuit against St. Pete.
