Good morning, welcome to Radioactivity. I’m Rob Lorei.

Coming up—an interview with Roger Steffens a photographer, pioneering reggae DJ, leading expert on Bob Marley, actor and poet.

Our guest today is Roger Steffens who has led an amazing life—a life that that follows the arc of a lot of Baby Boomers lives– rock and roll, Vietnam, the peace and love answer to the war, psychedelics, reggae and much more… He’s a Vietnam Veteran, a poet, a pioneering reggae DJ, close friend and biographer of Bob Marley’s, an actor and a photographer. Some of his photos are on display at the Tampa Museum of Photographic Arts. He’ll be speaking there tonight at 6PM. Steffens has been taking photographs since the early 1960s, documenting his unorthodox life and experiences. Recently his children, Devon and Kate, began scanning his slides and negatives and posting them to Instagram. The majority of these photographs haven’t been seen by anyone outside of the family until now. There are approximately 40,000 Kodachrome slides and hundreds of thousands of black and white and color negatives. In early 2015, The Family Acid released their first book.
