St. Petersburg’s Mayor Rick Kriseman’s budget can be reviewed and questioned at an open house Monday evening; on MidPoint we hear about the proposed budget in St. Petersburg, how it affects low-income communities and how residents can provide input. We’ll hear from a St. Pete City Council member representing parts of South St. Pete and from a member of The People’s Budget Review.

The open house begins at 6:00 p.m. and is at the Coliseum, 535 Fourth Avenue North.

We began with WMNF News’ interview of Lisa Wheeler-Bowman, vice-chair of the St. Petersburg City Council. We spoke with her Friday at City Hall.

Listen to part 2:

Our guest in the studio, Jabaar Edmonds is a community organizer with the labor union SEIU Florida. He also has been working on the People’s Budget Review.

This show is part of WMNF’s Juneteenth celebration.

At the beginning of the show we heard two listener comments that came in after our last two shows. One was about alternatives to fossil fuels and the other was a speech last week by Senator Bernie Sanders.

Here’s the Facebook Live video of the show:
